Easter and Swimming

This week we attempted our first swimming party of the season. It wasn't too warm, but it was still fun. Jada had a blast with her new arm floaties. This is the first time in four years (all of her summers) that she hasn't had to wear a splint or cast on her arm, so she can get all the way in the pool. Yay! She's loving it.

Easter Sunday:

Okay, I've decided we're going private. So, please leave your email address if you want an invite, I'll probably switch it over in about a week. (Even if you just check in once in a while, feel free to leave your email!)

For Nat

Just some pictures:

Fun family trip to Zion. This was such a fun, beautiful day.

A couple of weeks ago Caleb woke up looking like swollen Hitch who needs plenty of Benadryl (and believe me, he got it). Turns out he had a reaction to the new sunscreen I'd put on him the day before. Poor kid. Casey and I could hardly stand to look at him all day.

We're having a . . .

Today was my 20 week ultrasound and Casey and I had decided since we have one girl and one boy we would let this one be a surprise. So we went into our appointment today thinking we weren't going to find out what we were having. But, HELLO, look at this picture:

Yep, it's a BOY!

We're so excited, I really wanted a little buddy for Caleb and love that we're gonna have a little boy!

You're So Vain . . .

I'm gonna be a big baby for just a minute. I have been working my butt off, going to the gym, walking on my treadmill, eating better, and I'm still GAINING weight! Okay, yes, I know that I'm pregnant. I know weight-gain is inevitable. But shouldn't I at least be really trim and toned, with just a cute little pregnant belly? I know that's how it works for some women, but apparently not me. How frustrating to see all the girls in my gym class getting smaller, and I feel like a big, huge, swollen whale. And I'm only 18 weeks!!! Which means, it's just gonna get worse. I'm trying to keep the big picture in perspective: healthy baby, this is only temporary, etc., but I am seriously frustrated.

That's all.

Spring Has Sprung

I never thought I'd say this, but I am totally burned out on BBQs. I know how insane that sounds. The weather has been so gorgeous for the past two weeks, and we've grilled probably 6 or 7 times. Yuck. I'm currently on a meat-strike and almost gag when I smell a BBQ going. I really hope this passes!

The kids have been enjoying the beautiful sunshiny weather and are outside almost all day. It's so fun living at the end of a cul-de-sac and being able to send the kids outside to ride their bikes with the neighbor kids and not worry too much. We did have a scare with Jada the other day. Caleb was driving their little motorized Rhino, with Jada standing in the back (we have since banned either of them from riding in the back, FYI). He punched the gas and sent her flying out the back where she landed on her head on the street. If that doesn't give a mother a heart attack I don't know what will. I'm still not sure if it knocked her out for a few seconds or not, but she had the biggest, scariest goose egg I've ever seen. I immediately started remembering all the horror stories I've heard about head injuries, particularly the ones where the kid is fine for a few hours, then having seizures or dying later. Not fun to think about. We iced it as much as she would let us and checked her pupils all night (she didn't appreciate this so much when we did it while she was sleeping), and finally I brought her into bed with me and kicked Casey out to the couch. Just to make sure. She's fine, the bump was totally gone the next morning, and I am just a little more cautious of their play.

Yesterday we went to Zion and it was so perfect and beautiful! I forget just how nice it is up there. The kids totally loved it. They loved going up the trails and hiking around, and I'm happy to say neither of them got hurt, not even a scratch. Casey, Nicole, and Ryan (my sis and her boyfriend) had bets to see how many times Jada would fall (she is my clumsy child) and she stayed totally upright and on her feet all day! Then we ate lunch at this fabulous little cafe in Springdale and had such a great day.

Beautiful pictures to come when I stop being lazy and download them from my camera!

Trouble

Casey has had this little motorcyle for quite a while now and has been so excited for the day when Caleb would be old enough to ride it. Well, that day has apparently come. Casey came home from work with these training wheels, hooked them up to the bike, and it looks like Caleb is going to have a new hobby (whether he wants it or not). Yes, he does have a helmet, but I left it at home. (You can hear in the background how much my mom is loving this).
