These two girls from Eagle Mountain, Utah. Tiffany (visor) who was great fun to talk to and also fun to hear her choice words when struggling through a run:) And Emily (blonde), who was such a sweetheart and brought along her husband to be our driver, who was awesome to put up with a van full of stinky, sweaty runners and who got even less sleep than we did.

My sis Kaelee was great fun and did amazing, even though she kept saying she wished she were better trained. She ran the entire LaVerkin twist hell, I mean hill.
My other sis Nicole had the choice of babysitting mine and Kaelee's kids for the weekend or running with us. She wisely chose running and did awesome.

And me:)
To our surprise when we got to the top of the mountain it was raining/hailing and freezing cold. Not so much tank top and shorts weather, which is basically all we had packed. We froze for a while, but when we got down the mountain and into Cedar it had warmed up a ton. We were Van 2, Sun Van, which I also refer to as Hell Van. It's the toughest of the two. I was in it last year, too.

This was our first handoff after Nicole's all uphill leg. This picture cracks me up. Tiffany's ready to go.

Getting my handoff from Kaelee. My first leg was 7 miles down Cedar Mountain. 6:31 average pace, only because I physically could not slow down. I paid for it later. My quads were toast.

After we exchanged with Van 1 we headed to Pasta Factory in Cedar for some much needed food. It was not yummy, but good to get something in our bellies. After eating we drove out to Newcastle to wait for our van. The only place to sleep was on a lawn at the church along with hundreds of other bodies. We grabbed our stuff and tried to get a couple of hours of sleep. My sisters and I did not bring sleeping bags so we cuddled/spooned in our blankets on the grass. But there was no sleep to be had. It was too noisy. We got our exchange at 1:15 a.m. and we were off.

Suzanne handing off to Nicole after her 8.5 miler. Suzanne was fast asleep when Van 1 showed up and started her run somewhat in a daze. She ran in the wrong direction and the volunteers had to turn her around:) This is somewhere around 3 a.m.

Tiffany and Kaelee's handoff. Tiffany was terrified to run past the corn fields because she had been freaked out by the movie Children of the Corn as a kid, but she made it:) I ran after Kaelee. 4.5 miles at 5 a.m. Average 7:36 min/mile. It was spooky slash awesome. I only saw three other runners the whole time which made it a little scary, but also way cool feeling like I was out in the middle of nowhere running in a perfectly crisp and calm morning all by myself. After my run Emily ran 7 miles, which I don't remember any of because I slept, along with everyone else in the van except our awesome driver.
After we exchanged with Van 1 in Veyo we headed to the Washington Rec Center and slept on the floor in the gym for an hour and a half. I didn't think I'd be able to sleep but I had no trouble at all. Nicole got her handoff at 10:15 a.m. and we started our third and final leg.

Tiffany, Emily, and Kaelee running back to the van after giving Nicole some water on Telegraph.

Nicole's hubby Callin came to run with her for the last couple of miles. So cute. That background makes me happy:)

Kaelee's awesome run up the LaVerkin twist. I had this leg on last year's race and wanted to die.

Kaelee handing it off to me in Virgin for my final leg. 7.5 miles. Ouch. I felt like I was running through mud. My legs were not very cooperative. It had been way hot up to this point and then the clouds rolled in and it was so pleasant. Average pace 9:25 min/mile. And it hurt.

So happy to be almost done!

This was approximately two minutes after I finished my run. And I meant it.

Finished! 30 hours 29 minutes. I can't name half the people in this picture:) But yes, that is an 11 year old boy on our team. I think his name was McKay?

Nicole, Emily, "Driver", me, Kaelee, Tiffany, Suzanne. Awesome weekend. I'm almost recovered:)
